HISTORICAL
RESTORATION

PILOT POINT

The 1905 cottage in Pilot Point, Texas, is a testament to the power of restoration and the beauty of preserving history. Originally built where Lake Ray Roberts stands today, this home was relocated, stripped of its character, and left waiting for a revival.

When given the chance to breathe new life into this century-old gem, I embarked on a journey to rediscover its original charm, all while bringing the owners’ unique vision to life. As enthusiasts of the unusual and gothic, they had a clear idea of what they wanted, and I was thrilled to work with them to create a space that truly reflects their personality.

I sourced every piece with care, from the vibrant orange front door salvaged from a 1900s bank in Honey Grove, Texas, to the antique buffet-turned-vanity from England. But the pièce de résistance was undoubtedly the clawfoot tub, rescued from a Louisiana swamp and refinished to retain its patina. We affectionately dubbed it “The Swamp Queen,” and I’m pretty sure it’s the only tub that’s been nicknamed after its murky origins.

One of my favorite touches was being able to repurpose a stunning chandelier from a previous project – the 1915 pig farm in Prosper, Texas – and give it new life in the dining room.

I love being able to bring every aspect of a client’s style and personality to life in their home, and this project was a true delight. The result is a space that’s equal parts historic charm and personal expression, and I’m honored to have played a part in bringing it to life.

PROSPER

The 1915 pig farm in Prosper, Texas, was a true gem that showcased exceptional craftsmanship from a bygone era. Despite being abandoned for years and bearing the scars of neglect, the house still stood tall and majestic, its historic charm and character refusing to be extinguished. As someone who sees potential in dilapidated structures, I was drawn to this project with a passion that went beyond mere renovation – it was about preserving memories and honoring the past.
Through months of dedicated work, we brought this relic back to life, refinishing its floors with custom-milled wood from a 100-year-old tree and meticulously restoring its original features. Though the house ultimately fell to the wrecking ball, the experience left an indelible mark on me. It taught me that not everyone can look beyond a property’s current state and envision its potential, but for those who do, the reward lies in the love and care poured into every detail, and the memories that linger long after the physical structure is gone.
CURRENT PROJECT

THE BELLADONNA • SHERMAN, TX

The Belladonna 1890, affectionately known as the “problem child,” is a historic homestead currently being restored to its former glory, and it’s a labor of love that’s capturing our hearts.

This 134-year-old dairy farm relic had been left vacant for years, suffering from extensive water damage, mold, and rot, but we saw potential in this piece of Texas history and threw ourselves into a comprehensive restoration journey. It’s been a true team effort, with every hand on deck working tirelessly to bring this home back to life. From salvaging original wood to replacing outdated electrical systems, every detail has been touched with care and dedication. The discovery of beautiful cedar shiplap behind the drywall was a thrilling surprise, and we’re delighted to be restoring it to its original charm.

As we work to complete this project, slated for early 2026, we’re transforming the space with stunning stained glass windows, exposed ceilings, and a show-stopping kitchen that’s sure to be the heart of the home. And to make things even more challenging, our clients are currently living in the house, so we’re breaking up the project room by room to keep everyone sane – it’s a juggling act, but we’re making it work.

The restoration also extends to the original carriage house, which we’ve lovingly restored, and we’re building custom coops for the family’s livestock. I’ve had the privilege of working on every aspect of this project, and it’s been an honor to be trusted with preserving a piece of history that’s rapidly disappearing in the face of progress.

We’re pouring our hearts into this restoration, and we can’t wait to see the finished result, including the incorporation of an antique fireplace surround from an old bayou house in New Orleans. This project is more than just a restoration – it’s a love letter to the past, and we’re thrilled to be a part of it.
